The redevelopment of Merrist Wood College represents the largest investment in Activate Learning’s history, aimed at modernising and transforming the Merrist Wood College and University Centre facilities. The project is funded by the £1.5bn Further Education Capital Transformation Fund, aimed at upgrading and transforming Further Education colleges to enhance Post-16 education. The Surrey-based campus is one of eight that makes up the wider Activate Learning group.
The redevelopment at the Surrey-based campus will include flagship land-based learning education facilities. These enhancements are aligned with Activate Learning’s commitment to providing industry-leading learning facilities that support hundreds of learners each year. The development consists of two new buildings that will provide new facilities for arboriculture, countryside management, horticulture and landscaping, equine, and animal management.
The project will deliver sustainable, low-carbon buildings and commercial glasshouses, supporting land-based skills development and accommodating future learners., The new facilities will ensure Merrist Wood College remains at the forefront of land-based education. The redevelopment will not only strengthen the college’s ability to provide top-quality education but will also ensure that facilities can meet the future needs of all learners, particularly in the development of land-based skills
